Project Summary-Inspired by true events taking place from 1947-1965:
Discover the captivating tale of Doris Duke, the world's wealthiest woman, and her whirlwind marriage to the jet-setting playboy, Porfirio Rubirosa, Dominican Ambassador to France. Their love story began with a bang, Doris smitten and Rubirosa charmed by her wit and elegance. Yet, the CIA cast a shadow of suspicion over their union. The agency’s doubts were fueled by a sinister connection to Rubirosa's boss, the Dominican dictator Trujillo. Could his influence jeopardize Doris' fortune and her life? Uncover the intrigue in this high-stakes international love story…
Cast Breakdown:
Doris Duke-Tall, athletic build presents as worldly and “soigne,” Elegant and well-groomed. She is very wealthy and powerful and able to get whatever she desires. However, beneath her strong presence, she has moments of vulnerability.

30s – 40s. (Age range in play is from 30s to early 50s), European Descent.
Ambassador Porfirio Rubirosa- Average build. Able to convey an old- fashioned masculine charm, with an edge, a “Dominican Casanova.” From humble beginnings, he worked very hard to have a successful career. Intelligent and always the life of the party. He exudes strength and confidence wherever he goes.

30s age range. Latino
Julia Davidson- Elegant, poised, and able to play the piano. Loyal friend and music tutor to Doris Duke. She wants to comfort Doris during her time of need, but there are personal and professional obligations she must attend to. Towards the end of the play, she reveals a shocking secret which brings her closer to Doris.
late twenties/ early thirties . Black
Barry West- Average build- CIA agent from 1947- conveys calculating mind, somber. Career Driven. Nothing and no one will get in the way of his mission which is: To break Doris Duke and Porfirio Rubirosa apart, to fulfill the government’s political agenda.
30-40’s age range. European Descent
John McCann Average build- CIA agent from 1947 – Comical. Loyal to Barry and his job, he will not let anything, or anyone deter him from completing this mission.
Late 20-30’s age range. European Descent

Please label email and self-tape with your full name and role. On the body of your email, please confirm you are available for the rehearsal/tech and show dates schedule as listed in this casting notice.
After self-tapes have been reviewed, actors will be invited to in-person call-backs on, Saturday, February 24th in a rehearsal studio in NYC. Thank you.
REHEARSAL INFORMATION, TECH AND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE
Rehearsals will start on Monday, March 25th. And will be a combination of zoom and in-person rehearsals. Schedule for rehearsals will be weekdays from 7-9pm (twice a week) and occasionally Saturday early afternoons. Please only submit if you are available within this timeline.
Actors will be paid a Stipend, stipend TBA.
